The After Party

Hello, reader(s)! I hope you are having a kind and loving 2017 thus far. Ours has been good...although I did manage to throw out my back yesterday.  And I accidentally locked us out of the house this morning. While it was raining. And I did also knock my 40oz cup of ice water all over my desk.  But, hey...it's only the 3rd of January!
...Which also means only 17 days until the new president (little "p" - he needs to earn the big "P") is sworn in.
Let us all embrace for a moment, shall we?!? Inhale....exhale....inhale...

Anyhow...

Picking up where I left off: the day after OG's birthday party (when everyone was feeling better - ehem, poor Declan), we met up with our favorite out-of-towers for some breakfast. It turns out Declan just had a case of random toddler pukes.  And...just happened to release those random toddler pukes all over his mommy.  (Mr. D, if you are reading this, go give your mom a big hug.)

Olive was slacking a bit on the outfit front, but let's go easy on her - she had such a great one for her Birthday! hehe

OG wore:
-Pink "Shapes & Animals" Shirt (hand-me-down)
-Teal Pants with Sparkle Dots

Hello there!

Looking at cars, talkin' toddler

Little Cutie Declan telling a tale (and just look at his fun shirt!)

OOP! Their arms touched! haha

Eh, They realized they touched. :)

We miss you guys! xoxox

The Wonderful Halter Returns!

Yes, indeed...the halter dress returns! I went to dinner with Ms. J last week and she mentioned how cute it looked in pictures, so OG decided to wear it to her house!  Luckily, Ms. J works magic with her camera and somehow manages to get a clear picture of OG.
Witchcraft, I tell you.
She must have a banana hanging from a fishing pole or something.

Anyhoo, here is my adorable, stationary (HOW?!?!) Ms. OG in all her halter-dressed glory!

I mean...how much more can you love a nugget?!  She's my angelfish.

Oh, her bow, you ask? Yes, yes...it IS quite cute fancy amazing WONDERFUL.  A closer look?  Oh, sure!  Here you go...

BAM!  WONDER. WOMAN.

Outfit. Envy. To the maximum.

Celebrating SUPER DADA!

Yes, reader(s) - another celebratory post! This was a busy and celebratory type of weekend!

Sunday may have been the most important celebration - Father's Day! I must admit, I don't think I did a great job planning a personalized dada-cetric day, but I think he still had a good day nonetheless. I hope so, at least. I'm not trying to sell short my efforts, it's just one of those how-do-you-thank-your-partner-in-life-and-love-and-parenting-for-always-being-amazing-and-reliable-and-your-rock-through-everything-while-he's-also-been-the-most-amazing-father-to-our-snugglenugget-and-it-shows-every-time-he-makes-her-smile kind of things.

However, there were gifts! Matching-themed outfits! Breakfast! Family! Scooters! Grilled burgers! A pool!

Ready? Here we go!

OG aka: dada's mini-me was wearing:
-Daddy is my Hero shirt (Target)
-Navy lace-front shorts (Walmart)
-Her sweet Converse kicks (Converse Outlet)

Dada was wearing:
-Super Dad! shirt (a gift from OG)
-Camo shorts
-Chucks

They finally got it together around shot #4 ;)

My 2 most favorite people in the world on one porch.  I'm a very lucky lady.

We went to breakfast with Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Will, then it was nap time for OG (and maaaaaayyyybe momma too) so dada met up with Grandpa and rode scooters for a bit.

After napnap, OG and I got ready for pool lounging!  We went to Auntie C's where dada met up with us for some grilling and floating in the pool. OG was sad that Mickey couldn't join her in the water, but luckily I grabbed Little Steg. She had a blast making him "swim" and throwing him in the water!

OG and Little Steg decided to take a break (if only for a moment)
We were all completely pooped at the end of the day, but it was a goodn'.

Also, a huge thank you goes out to my hero, my husband.  He has taught me over the past 9+ years that I can trust and love completely, and I couldn't be more grateful knowing that he's instilling those values in our daughter as well.  We love you! xoxox

Wonder(ful) Women Weekend

Ok, I don't know who is in charge of planning, but Free Comic Book Day and Mother's Day in the same weekend?!?! YES PLEASE!

On Saturday, Dada was busy working on his scooter, so OG and I met up with Team Allen and celebrated Free Comic Book Day by hitting up our local comic store. They had a cosplay Iron Man outside, waving at all the passers-by, and stacks of free comics up for grabs!  OG picked out her very first comic book as well - although it wasn't free. We splurged for her first book - My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Stunt Pony.  Once OG saw the cover, it was over.  She made her "pony noise" and wouldn't let go!

Comic Nerd OG wore:
-Metallic purple print Batman/Batgirl tee
-Pink cardigan
-Teal shorts
-Converse kicks

With all the Star Wars to choose from, OG picks the ONLY Pony book. Mickey enjoyed her selection too!

Yep...ain't no shame in my nerd game! Now I'm rethinking the whole "rolled out of bed and threw my hair up" look...
you never know when a photo-op might strike!

Later that day, post-napnap, OG swapped out Team Allen for a Dada and went to a new (and HUGE) comic book store about 20 minutes away.  Tony Moore was there signing stuff and selling his art, and while Dada forgot to bring his copy of Fear Agent, we still had a blast!  OG even made a friend and got a really cool book out of the trip!

OG's First Book of GIRL POWER! Side note: has anyone heard of "Mary, the regular girl who sometimes has powers"? I hadn't until reading this book. Always learning!

OG testing out her super kicking powers

On Sunday (Mother's Day), I woke up late(r than usual by about 30 minutes), we had a nice family breakfast, then I dressed Ms. OG in her best "I'm promoting my love for my momma" outfit.

Technically we had 3 outfits in mind, and the plan was to switch them out based on who were were going to see, but...you know...motherhood, toddlers and whatnot...so OG ended up wearing the same thing all day. Chalk it up to a Mother's Day Fail. Sorry, dedicated reader(s)!

OG loved her momma while wearing:
-"Cute & Smart Like Mom" shirt...totally unbiased, btw... (Target)
-Striped leggins
-Navy cardigan
-Flip Flops (Children's Place Outlet)
-Slightly unruly bed head, left unchecked, to give her that edgy toddler look
-Mickey...because...he might as well be glued to her hand

Fact: I ate OG's face 100,000,000,000,000,000 times that day.

After napnap we had lunch with Grandma (Grandpa, Uncle W, & Aunt T too!).  Someone may have overslept a bit, so we were running late. However, at least no one seems to mind as long as you bring a cute nugget with you!

No photos were taken.  Mother's Day Fail #2.

Then, off to Dedi's! It was getting a bit chilly at this point in the afternoon, so luckily Dedi hoards old hats.  I probably would have made this MDFail #3 (and not taken photos here either), but the hat I found hiding in the "old hat drawer" was ADORABLE.

OG, Mother's Day Fashionista was wearing:
-The same exact outfit
-BUT! We added a stolen cute hat from Dedi's Hoarded Hat Drawer!

OG and her EG running in the front yard.  Well, OG is running...EG is...?

I call this one: Cute Hat, Murky Pool, Weapon of Accidental Injury

We all crashed very early that night. It was the perfect weekend. <3

Throwback Thursday #9: The Draw of Marvel

There are several reasons I know my husband will be fond of this particular Throwback Thursday.

First: He's a parent.  We all turn into goo when we see pictures of our kids when they were tiny. #truth

Second: I remember him talking for weeks before finally searching the depths of the internet to find the perfect version of this "outfit".
And, after seeing it again, I bet he says something like "AWWW MAAAAN! That's it, I am finding another one in her (current) size."

Third: Marvel. Need I say more? With Civil War coming out in ONE WEEK (eeee!), our minds have been on Marvel! And OG has always been a little super hero in her own right, so it just makes sense.

Fourth: The surprise video at the end. Spoilers.

So, without further ado, may I present our little Captain Marvel:

Those eyes. Those chubby legs/arms/cheeks.  I love her so much and can't believe how much she's grown!

Then, 2 days after this picture was taken (thanks Ms. J!), our little OG decided that sitting idly by was not enough for her anymore. She decided to "spring" into action and try to crawl.
Her sidekick in that adventure?
Spider-man.
(and Auntie C, a bag of wipes and a coupon mailer, but shhhh...those don't fit the theme of Marvel!)

Beware of  the "feels"...

You have been a strong, intelligent, funny and beautiful lady since day one, my sweet OG. <3

"Bahtmahn"

Happy Friday, dedicated reader(s)! I was going to try and save a few new posts for later (so I wouldn't show all of OG's fun summer looks in one week) but, it's Friday...so I can give you at least one more, right? Right!

On Tuesday, OG wore dada's new favorite shirt.

Side note: Have I mentioned that one of OG's few clearly spoken words is "Batman"? All the props to dada for that one. :)  She even uses a deep growl a' la Christian Bale! It's awesome. I'll try to record it so we can all share in the magic!

Superhero OG's "civilian clothes" from Tuesday were:
-Grey and purple metallic Batman shirt (Target)
-Black leggin's (Thanks to Charlie Rue!)
-Black cotton flats
-Wooden bug "necklace" (a new lace & learn toy for the Target $1 bin)

And, we can't forget her Super Sidekick, Mickey!

OG teaching Mickey how to fight beat the "bad guys" in a dance-off

Have a safe and fun-filled weekend! If you're out and see OG and Mickey serving up awesome dance moves in attempt to stop the "bad guys", say hi!

Flashback Friday AKA: Throwback Thursday #3

As you may recall, it's been a busy week. :\

With the countdown for Superman v. Batman winding down (3/25, for those who are interested), I am dedicating this Throwback Thursday Flashback Friday to all things BATMAN.

Real talk: As excited as I should be for this movie, I just don't know, guys. I'm sorry.  Every time I see a new preview release I cringe when Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor speaks.  Is it just me? My husband has me thinking it's just me. Plus, how much plot are we cramming into this thing? I mean, OBVIOUSLY I will go and see it, probably on opening weekend, but....eh...(sigh).

I just hope I am proven wrong.

So, dear reader, now that I've held you hostage with my thoughts on the new DC release, how about I give you what you really came for: OG pictures!

In this picture, OG is modeling a fancy version of  a basic Batman onesie. Fashionable upgrades include: a sparkly tutu, glitter printed emblem, and detachable cape.  Unfortunately the "sparkly" on the tutu was distributing itself everywhere, so this outfit was short lived.  However, props and shout-outs to Ms. Allen for buying OG such a fun outfit! It was SUPER cute (pun intended).

Action shot! OG is practicing her Bat(wo)man fighting skills.

Tiny Baby OG is wearing:
-Bat onesie!
-Mittens (to keep her from cutting her precious hands when throwing her Batarangs)
-Owl socks...because...they were a favorite for a while. No other fashion reasoning behind them.

In the following picture, OG decided to simplify things and go for the function over fashion approach:

Post-bath comfort in cotton.

Intent Stare Baby OG is relaxing in:
-Batman onesie
-A diap
-Piece of mind that she no longer has glitter in her neither-regions ;)

Just so we're all clear, OG really has no option; she's going to be a nerd.  (High-five)

Also, while writing this post I realized I hadn't heard the 'Batdance" song in FOREVER. Oh, you know...1989 Batman + Prince = GLORIOUS.  Does Prince have that sh*t on lock-down?  I could not find it anywhere on YouTube! Does anyone know where it can be found? HELP!! My soul ears need to hear it!

In the meantime, my YouTube search was not entirely fruitless.  I found this cute little song that I'm sure OG will love.  Hooray!

Also, I know this isn't a blog about music videos, but as a shout-out to my husband's childhood, I had to include this for everyone's viewing pleasure!  BAHT-MAHN!
