An Olympic Celebration

Hello, dearest reader(s)!  I hope you're having a nice week so far.  I had to carve out a bit of time today to share OG's bright fashion moment from this past weekend!

We didn't really watch too much of the Olympic events or fanfare in the past few weeks, but we DID record a bit so we could watch the Lady-USA-Gymnastic-Heroes-Of-The-World.  They did not disappoint!  I now see what all the hubbub was about! I was hoping to catch some synchronized swimming, but I guess that coverage didn't make the cut. In short, whenever I saw anything of Olympic coverage it was 95% swimming (aka: OMGMICHAELPHELPS), 4% gymnastics, 1% other.
And don't get me wrong - these are amazing athletes and I would never be able to muster half of their dedication to anything athletic, but can we PLEASESTOPTALKINGABOUTMICHAELPHELPS?! Ugh. I'm over it.

Sorry, rant complete. So, this weekend...

As the Olympics were coming to a close, my sweet snugglenugget just happened to wear an outfit that rivaled those worn by the all-great FLO JO!
Or, at the very least, it was heavily inspired by Ms. JO.

What? Don't know who Flo Jo is? Oh my...ok...prepare...

Ms. Florence Griffith Joyner, World Record Winning Runner, 5-Time Olympic Medal Winner (1984-1988), Inspirational LadyBeast Extraordinaire!

Also known for her SUPER radical outfits/nails/color choices while she ran.
And it was the 80's, so that's saying a lot.

She. Was IS. Fabulous.

-Team Pony track shorts with matching muscle-t (Target clearance was ON POINT last week)

And We Were Worried About Making Sure We Raised An Independent Lady...

Last Wednesday, all of my fears of not raising an intelligent, independent lady were laid to rest.

Text conversation with Ms. J:

J: "I guess she didn't like what I had on TV in the living room LOL"

Me: "Did she boycott?"

(Sends below photo)***

J: "I walked into [my bedroom] and she was sitting just like that and had turned on the tv"
   "I turned and put away the vacuum and then this is what I walked into"

Dada: "Hahaha WTF(udge)"

Me: "LMAO..she's like "This is MY house""

***Please note, in order to get on this bed, she had to leave the couch, walk into Ms. J's room across the hall, climb the doggy stairs onto the bed, grab the remote, sit down and turn on the tv using the remote.

She's a genius.

In a New York State of Mind

Hello my dear reader(s)! I hope you're having a lovely week!

A few days ago I made a comment to my husband that I felt like a bad blogger for not having put together any "fresh" outfits for Ms. Ladycakes lately. Maybe it's the rushed mornings, or the fact that I haven't been to Target in a while (kiddingbutnotreallykidding).  And sure, OG can rock the same outfit as many times as she'd like - but that doesn't make for a noteworthy "fashion blog" entry.

Just imagine...the titles would be things like:

"Here is my little OG, wearing the same dress she's worn all summer..."

"I know you have seen this old rag 500 times, but momma needs to do laundry..."

"Sorry guys...let's just be glad she didn't leave the house naked, ok?"


So...to appease the Toddler Fashion Gods, behold!

OG wearing:
-NY heart shirt (thanks Charlie! And a big shout-out to Aunt Fannie - we miss you!)

-Neon (like, VERY NEON) orange sandals

Throwback Thursday #17: Adventures of the Traveling Baby

I was looking for a fun picture or two to share from last August and realized - there are a ton.
I mean...#realtalk...OS is a supercutie, and I'm a proud momma, so that doesn't help! But yes...lots.

Don't fret; I narrowed them down to just a small handful. Most of the photos are from times when Ms. OG was traveling about town. She loves adventures!

OG's Posse - A Whirlwind Weekend

Oh, dearest reader(s)...I'm sorry I'm just getting around to posting pictures from last weekend, but it's been one of those weeks  I'm a mom they are worth the wait!

OG ended up having quite the busy weekend hanging out with a bunch of her pals!

On Saturday:

OG threw on the closest sleeveless tee and shorts and we headed out to visit dada at work (overtime...blech).

"Ummm, he's busy working on a project...how may I help you?"

After that (well, after napnap), we went to Ms. Kristie's house to visit with Team Dunn.  We were supposed to be doing hair and being productive, but instead we watched our kiddos play nicely together and relaxed/chatted/were not productive.  :)

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the Charlie & OG hangouts!

Ms. OG was wearing:
-One of my favorite dresses that was too big for her last summer, and slightly too small for her this summer (it's 9m, but a large 9m!), so it looks like a micro-mini skirt dress.
Still cute as h-e-double-L though!

I love this dress.  I love it on her. I would maybe even love it one me, but I don't have the skin tone to pull it off!

Then, on Sunday:

OG was invited to her very first birthday party!  Her pal Isaac turned 2, and we were lucky enough to make the guest list.

I didn't take many pictures (at all...seriously, just this one), but OG picked out:
-Floral fancy dress (may look familiar from her Easter Pictures) from Target

OG & Isaac share a love of all things cars/trucks/garages <3

She also ran around in a swim diap, played in a sandbox, went down a "baby slide" into a "baby pool", met a horse dressed as a dog, ate ice cream, played with balloons and pooped the biggest poop I've ever seen.

Then...dada and I skipped work on Monday (hehe) because our friends, the Taulbouts's decided to come into town!  Their son Declan is OG's due date twin, but we rarely get to see each other because they live in the far away lands of KY.  We decided to hit up the zoo since Mr. Declan had never been to a zoo before.

OG wore:
-The "cool"est outfit we could find because it was 100+ degrees outside. UGH.

I am so glad we got to spend time with everyone - it was an amazing weekend!

My little Beni-hunna

Hello, dedicated reader(s)!  Ms. OG had a full dance card this past weekend, but before I can even begin with all of that recap, I forgot to post pictures from last week when Ms. OG had her 2nd trip to (but first time eating/enjoying) Benihana.

What a tough life, right? I first had Benihana when I was in my mid-twenties. And that was for a fancy work get-together, if I recall correctly.
